At Excellent Edges we understand the best way for creative minds to learn is to put our scissors in your hands and let you go for it. This is one of the fundamental concepts of our Edge-ucation Workshops.
Under the guidance of our Technical Coach, Sue Edwards, you will be inspired and given all the right solutions for creative and traditional cutting techniques. There are many different types of scissors for a multitude of cutting styles, this course will not only let you trial all these scissors but give you a better understanding of what your current scissors can do and how to go about tailoring the perfect scissor kit for you.
We have tailored a workbook dubbed the “Scissor Bible” which briefly covers all the technical data you will ever need. From there, it is straight into our cutting elemech involves a lot of creative cutting work with a mannequin head. We will extensively cover all aspects of cutting such as Blunt or Solid form, Slicing, Texturising & Thinning.
The knowledge provided in this workshop is vital for you to develop your skills with confidence. This is not a workshop where you will be shown whatever the latest haircut is at the minute. It is more about getting the most out of your tools, your craft and yourself.. Of course there will be tips you’ll be shown along the way to enhance what you already know.
Whether it be you are looking to purchase new scissors or simply want to get the most out of your current kit, we believe we can offer you an experiencnts whie that cannot be matched by any other company. Where else could you get the opportunity to trial some of the highest quality tools for a day with no obligation?
If you would like more information on the workshops available or for bookings please contact Sue Edwards.

how i got into hairdressing
I started ‘working’ in hairdressing when I was 11 years old. It was 1982, I was in Grade 5 and I just loved the atmosphere of the salon
and watching my dad work. It was an escape for this stereotypical unpopular kid and it brought me to a place where I truly felt I
belonged! For me it was more play than work – and it still is!

I never wanted to be a hairdresser and I had absolutely no idea when it came to hair. A friend of mine, who was an apprentice, suggested I
become a 1st year but I dismissed this idea. The very next day I helped my mum through an at-home hair colouring emergency, where I was
forced to do her colour at home. To my surprise it turned out amazingly well!
My mum pointed out a job advert looking for a 1st year which was the very one my friend had told me to apply for! I applied, gave it a go,
and fell in love with it!

how i got into hairdressing
• I began hairdressing at age 19 after completing my HSC
• Originally, I tried university, but quickly realized it wasn’t for me and left very early on
• I had always had an interest in the hair/fashion industry
• My mum told me to apply for a 1st year apprenticeship advertised in the local paper
• I was offered the position and, 5 years later, I’m still hairdressing
